12 hour reading challenge reveiws

Okay I know I'm late but I've been busy. I ended up doing two reading challenges but I'm only posting reviews for the first one. For now anyways. I'm still getting the hang of this thing.

Evermore by Alyson Noel

The back of the book: This opening book in a new series, The Immortals, will thrill many teen fantasy-suspense readers, especially fans of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. Seventeen-year-old Ever survived the car crash that killed her parents, younger sister, and their dog. Now she lives with an aunt in Southern California, plagued not only by survivor guilt but also by a new ability to hear the thoughts of all around her. She tries to tune out all these distractions by keeping her hoodie up and her iPod cranked loud, until Damen, the cute new boy at school, convinces her to come out of her shell. Damen, however, is frighteningly clever—and has the strange ability to produce tulips from nowhere and disappear himself at critical moments. Noël (Saving Zoë, 2007) creates a cast of recognizably diverse teens in a realistic high-school setting, along with just the right tension to make Ever’s discovery of her own immortality—should she choose it—exciting and credible.

My review: I thought this book was pretty good. The writing style was excellent and it did live up to the hype everybody has been giving it. It did leave a couple things unawsered and a couple unrealistic aspects. Like she just dropped the achcol. I know she hadn't been drinking long but the author just didn't give it much thought. It was more about Damen. But maybe those questions will be answered in the next one. That's about the only problem I had with it. I really liked the book though.

Rating: 8/10
Favorite character: Ever and Damen
Song: Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance
Will I get the next one: Yes I will because maybe those questions will be anwered.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

The back of the book:
After two years on the run, best friends Rose, half-human/half-vampire, and Lissa, a mortal vampire princess, are caught and returned to St. Vladimir's Academy. Up until then, Rose had kept Lissa safe from her enemies; school, however, brings both girls additional challenges and responsibilities. How they handle peer pressure, nasty gossip, new relationships, and anonymous threats may mean life or death. Likable narrator Rose hides doubts about her friend behind a tough exterior; orphan Lissa, while coping with difficult emotional issues such as depression and survivor's guilt, uses her emerging gifts for good. Mead's absorbing, debut YA novel, the first in a new series, blends intricately detailed fantasy with a contemporary setting, teen-relevant issues, and a diverse, if sometimes sterotyped, cast of supporting characters.

My review: I really loved this book. I've been hearing about this series for years but haven't been able to find it till now. I really liked the story line and the new take on vamps. Everyone is trying to turn vamps into the new "It" thing and the only good thing in my opion is the new take everybody's giving it. The writing style was awesome. It may not be good for some of the younger readers but it's awesome for mature teens because it handles those aspects.

Rating: 9/10
Favorite characters: Mason and Rose
Song: Teenagers by My Chemical Romance and I Don't Care by Fall Out Boy
Will I get the next one: Yes I will I love this series now.

Review - Sleepaway Girls by Jen Calonita

Okay here's my first review:
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/imageviewer.asp?ean=9780316017176 Okay blogger hates me so you'll have to click the link to see the cover. Summary: When Sam's best friend gets her first boyfriend, she's not ready to spend the summer listening to the two of them call each other "pookie." Sick of being a third wheel, Sam applies to be a counselor-in-training at Whispering Pines camp in the New York Catskills. But what she doesn't realize is that it's not going to be all Kumbaya sing-alongs and gooey s'mores. If Ashley, the alpha queen of Whispering Pines, doesn't ruin Sam's summer, then her raging crush on the surfer-blond and flirtatious Hunter just might. At least she has playful Cole, who's always teasing her, but is oh-so-comfortable to hang out with, and the singular gang of girls that become fast friends with Sam-they call themselves the Sleepaway Girls.

My review:
I honestly loved this book. I've gone to a week long camp for the last 3 years and this book brought back all the memories. Unlike Sam though it dosen't have CIT's, Juinor counselors, or senior counselors. You're either a counselor or camper. Well anyways this book was very well written and had a good plot line. Didn't care much for Hunter Thomas though. I thought he was a sleezebag. The little romance Ms. Calonita threw in was perfect. I mean what' camp without guys? And the swimming in the lake at camp was classic. For someone who hasen't EVER gone to CAMP before she did a really great job. Exspecially with the camp language. That I thought was really cool because not all books grasp that there's certain things that are different at camp. All in all a VERY good book!

My rating: 9/10
My favorite character: Cole
Theme song: Sideways by Dierks Bently
Will I get the next one: YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
